(Balu) is a professional Mridangam & Morsing(Jaws harp) artiste from  Bangalore, India. Hails from a talented and rich in the classical music traditional family, His father Vidwan sri.S.V.VENKATESHAIAH was a great Veena & hormonium artiste(founder of Sri Vani institute of music® Bangalore ) and his mother Vidushi smt.S.V.KAMALAMMA is a veena artiste.

Balu had his tutilage under guru ‘Mridanga vadana ratna’ Vidwan sri.M.VASUDEVA RAO of bangalore and ‘Asthana vidwan of Sri kanchi Kaamakoti peetam’ sri. Mannargudi A.EASWARAN of Chennai

Balu has secured “FIRST RANK” in proficiency exam in mridangam, conducted by Karnataka State Government Education Board in 1997,. He was awarded “ANANYA YUVA PURASKARA 2004” in recognition of his extraordinary talent in the field of music.

The All India Radio has bestowed ‘A’ grade to him for his excellence in Morsing and ‘B high’ grade for Mridangam. Who performs regularly in Radio and Television throughout India and Abroad.

Besides Mridangam, he has proven his abilities in mastering other percussion instruments, like Ghatam (Earthen pot), Khanjira & Konakolu(Vocalization of  mridangam syllables).

Balu’s achievment as a percussionist comes from his firmly founded knowledge of music and training. He is critically acclaimed of his meticulous control of the instrtument, executing complex rhythmic calculations and generating a sense of complete involvement in all his performances.

His rythmcial and musical compositions are highly appreciated by music lovers and critics all over the world. Balu has performed at many prestigious venues and major festivals in INDIA, UK, EUROPE & USA. He has accompanied many renowned artiste Vidwans like.. Sri.S.Shankar,Sri.Nedanoori Krishnamurthy, T.V.Gopalkrishnan, Rajkumar Bhasrathi, Maharajpuram Ramchandran, T.V.Ramprasadh, T.M.Krishna, M.S.Sheela, Nagamani Srinath, P.Rama & Chandrika, Sudha Raghunathan, Nithyashee Mahadevan for vocal concerts.

He has accompanied many of the leading classical  dancers and  composed and conducted music for many dance ballets.

The couple S.V.Balakrishna & Vasudha Balakrishna a Carnatic classical singer have started a traditional music school “ SRIVANI CENTRE FOR PERFORMING ARTS” at Bangalore. The Institution has brought many talented students on to the performing stage. Students are coming out with flying colors in the proficiency, senior & junior grade examinations conducted by the Karnataka state secondary education board.
